History

Yaenosato Station opened on 19 November 1936, newly built by the Osaka Electric Tramway between Kosaka (now Kawachi-Kosaka) and Wakae-Iwata stations. It became a station of the Kansai Express Railway through merger with the Sangū Express Electric Railway in March 1941, and a station of Kintetsu (Kinki Nippon Railway) through corporate merger in June 1944. Elevation of the crossing with Osaka Prefectural Route 2, the Osaka Chūō Kanjō Line, was completed on 26 September 1969; automatic ticket gates for commuter passes only were installed in April 1971, and PiTaPa became usable in April 2007. The station manager position was abolished in November 2014, placing the station under the jurisdiction of the Fuse station manager. On 22 February 2025, arrival and departure tracks for stopping trains were unified to platforms 1 and 4 (the outer tracks), the inner platforms 2 and 3 became used only by through trains, and safety fencing was installed on the main-line platform side.

Notes

The station name "Yaenosato" is said to derive from the fact that the houses of former retainers of the Toyotomi family who settled in this area in the early Edo period numbered eight. From 1952 to 1982, Kintetsu's Tamagawa Works stood midway between this station and Wakae-Iwata Station, where important-parts inspections and general inspections of Nara Line and Kyoto Line rolling stock were carried out.
