History

Waseda Stop opened on 6 July 1918, when the Tokyo City Electricity Bureau's Edogawa Line began service between Edogawabashi and Waseda. A separate operator, the Oji Electric Tramway, reached Waseda in 1930; Tokyo City bought that company in 1942, merging its track into the city tramway that became today's Arakawa Line (Tokyo Sakura Tram), and the two routes were joined at Waseda in 1949. The Edogawa Line and its adjoining car depot closed in 1968. Today the stop is the Arakawa Line's terminus, station SA 30, with a head-type platform pair, alighting to the north and boarding to the south, on Shin-Mejiro-dori near Waseda University's main campus, separate from the same-named Tokyo Metro Tozai Line station about 600 meters away.

Notes

The Toei Bus depot built on the site of the old tram car barn still sells Arakawa Line commuter passes and hands out its timetables.
