History

Tsukimiyama Station was established on 15 March 1910, when the Hyōgo Electric Tramway opened its line from Hyōgo (later Dentetsu-Hyōgo) to Suma (now Sanyo-Suma), with separate up and down platforms straddling the Tsukimiyama level crossing. It was merged into Ujigawa Electric in 1927, and became a station of Sanyo Electric Railway with the transfer of the rail business in June 1933. The up platform was relocated in 1948, giving it two opposed platforms serving two tracks, and it was upgraded to an express stop in April 1955. With the opening of the Kobe Rapid Transit Railway in April 1968, through trains from Hanshin and Hankyu began stopping there, and it was temporarily closed by the 1995 Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. A timetable revision in March 2009 made it a stop for direct-through limited expresses and limited expresses, and it is now a stop for all trains. Its station number is SY 04.

Notes

A subtitle, "Suma-rikyū Kōen-mae," is included in onboard announcements because the station is the nearest one to the Suma Imperial Villa Park on the hillside.
