Location

History

Shirokanedai Station opened on 26 September 2000, on the section of route shared by the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line and the Toei Mita Line. The two operators share the tracks and station facilities, with Tokyo Metro acting as the on-site manager. The Namboku Line station facilities passed to Tokyo Metro on 1 April 2004 at the privatisation of the Teito Rapid Transit Authority. PASMO IC cards entered service on 18 March 2007, and on 12 March 2015 the original generic Namboku/Mita departure jingle was replaced with station-specific melodies — "Silver Drop" on track 1 and "Terra Cotta" on track 2, both composed by Naoya Fukushima.

Notes

The middle section of the platform level was built using a one-off detachable triple-bore slurry-shield station method — claimed as a world first — chosen to minimise the effect on groundwater flowing to the neighbouring Institute for Nature Study after locals protested the original cut-and-cover plan.
