Location
History
Shin-Fujiwara Station opened on 28 December 1919 as Fujiwara Station on the Shimotsuke Light Railway. On 6 June 1921 the operator was renamed the Shimotsuke Electric Railway, and on 19 March 1922 the station was relocated to its current site and renamed Shin-Fujiwara, coinciding with the line's electrification. The Tobu Railway absorbed the Shimotsuke Electric Railway on 1 May 1943, taking the station with it. When the Yagan Railway's Aizu Kinugawa Line opened on 9 October 1986 the station became a junction and its management transferred from Tobu to Yagan. Tobu introduced station numbering on 17 March 2012, when the station became TN-57, and it was renumbered TN-58 on 21 April 2017, ahead of the opening of Tobu World Square Station in July 2017.
Notes
Shin-Fujiwara is the northernmost station on Tobu Railway's network, and the northernmost station of any major Japanese private railway operator.
