Location

History

Ryūōkyō Station opened on 9 October 1986 on the Yagan Railway Aizu Kinugawa Line, in the city of Nikkō, Tochigi Prefecture. The Ryūōkyō Gorge is a short walk from the station, and half of the station's single side platform, at the Shin-Fujiwara end, lies inside the Dai-ichi Inohara tunnel. A temporary ticket booth at the entrance is staffed during daylight hours. The annual passenger total for fiscal 2016 was 24,109, equivalent to a daily average of 66 boardings.

Notes

Half of Ryūōkyō's single side platform — the half towards Shin-Fujiwara — lies inside the Dai-ichi Inohara tunnel, which is why this otherwise at-grade station is classed as semi-underground.
