Location

History

Shin-Tsuruba Station opened newly on 1 October 1989, when Kyushu Railway Company's (JR Kyushu) Yunomae Line was converted to the third-sector Kuma River Railway. Its station number is 13. Located at Taragi, Taragi-machi, Kuma District, Kumamoto Prefecture, it is a ground-level station with one side platform serving one track, with a short platform accommodating trains of up to four cars. It is an unstaffed station with a waiting shelter but no restroom. The surrounding area is farmland dotted with settlements and shops, and a Sankō Bus stop called Tsuruba stands along National Route 219 about 300 meters from the station. The station is one of those opened independently by the Kuma River Railway that did not exist in the JR era before conversion.

Notes

The station was newly built at the same time as the 1989 third-sector conversion of the JR Yunomae Line and did not exist in the Japanese National Railways or JR era.
