History
Higashi-Taragi Station opened on the Yunomae Line on 5 April 1963, established by Japanese National Railways as an unstaffed station handling passengers only. It became a JR Kyushu station at the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, and a Kumagawa Railway Yunomae Line station (station number 12) with the third-sector conversion of 1 October 1989. Its waiting shelter and platform were registered as national Registered Tangible Cultural Properties on 19 December 2014. After the line's suspension following the July 2020 torrential rains, it resumed operation on 28 November 2021, when service resumed between Higo-Nishinomura and Yunomae stations. It was renamed Taragi-Shorenji Station on 20 September 2026, the day the whole line reopened.
Notes
Its waiting shelter and platform were registered as a national Tangible Cultural Property in 2014, and it was renamed Taragi-Shorenji Station when the whole line reopened on 20 September 2026.
