History

Sanuki-Mure Station opened on 1 November 1986 as a temporary halt on Japanese National Railways' Kōtoku Main Line. It was unstaffed from the start; it became a JR Shikoku station at the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, and was given station number T20. It is an at-grade station with one side platform and one track, with no station building or restrooms. Across National Route 11, adjacent to the station, is the Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad's Shido Line Yakuri-shindō Station. Students commuting from the Shido direction to Kagawa Prefectural Takamatsu Kita Junior and Senior High School frequently get off here.
