History
Shido Station opened on 1 August 1925 as a station of the Railway Ministry's Kōtoku Line. Freight handling was discontinued on 1 June 1970, and baggage handling on 14 March 1985. It became a JR Shikoku station with the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. Work to rebuild it with an overhead (bridge-type) station building began on 13 June 1997 and was completed on 17 April 1998. From October 2021 a Midori no Kenbaiki Plus assisted ticket machine came into use, and the Midori no Madoguchi staffed ticket office closed on 31 January 2022. It is an at-grade station with one island platform and one side platform serving three tracks, and every passenger train stops here, including the limited express "Uzushio." Its station number is T19.
Notes
As of 2013, this station was the only one on the Kōtoku Line, aside from Takamatsu and Tokushima stations, with an assigned stationmaster.
