History

Owari-Hoshinomiya Station is a station on JR Central Transport Company's Jōhoku Line, located in Ahara-Hoshinomiya, Kiyosu, Aichi Prefecture, that opened on 1 December 1991 as the terminus, when the Jōhoku Line's section from Katsugawa to this station opened. On 18 March 1993 the line was extended from this station to Biwajima Station, and it became a through-station. It is an elevated station with opposed platforms serving two tracks, and is unstaffed. At the time of opening, a switch was installed on the Otai side of the station and trains turned back using track 2, but it was removed when the line was extended to Biwajima.

Notes

The station name carries the old provincial name "Owari," but no other station in the country bears the name "Hoshinomiya," making it an unusual station name on the Jōhoku Line.
