History
Ōnuki Station opened on 15 January 1915. Freight handling ceased on 1 October 1962, and the station passed to JR East with the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. The Midori-no-madoguchi staffed ticket office was withdrawn on 1 April 2006 and replaced by a 'Moshi-Moshi Ticket Machine Kaeru-kun'; the Kaeru-kun service ended on 12 March 2012. Suica IC card service began on 14 March 2009, with the station added to the Tokyo Suburban Area. The station became a business-outsourced station on 20 October 2014.
Notes
Ōnuki has a single island platform serving two tracks, with the platform unraised; a footbridge at the Sanukimachi end connects to the wooden station building on the west side. Both tracks are signalled for arrivals from and departures to either direction, so local trains can occasionally use the opposite-side platform to let limited expresses pass; in emergencies trains can turn back here (the 209-2000/2100 series carry a 'Uchibō Line Ōnuki' destination display for this case). The platform handles up to 11-car trains. The station lies at the centre of Futtsu and is the closest station to the city hall, and Ōnuki Beach is within walking distance. National Route 465 passes immediately west of the station.
