History
Sanukimachi Station is a station of East Japan Railway Company (JR East)'s Uchibō Line, located in Kameda, Futtsu, Chiba Prefecture. It opened on 15 January 1915 in what was then Sanuki-machi, Kimitsu District. Freight handling ended on 1 October 1976, and the station passed to JR East at the privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. The IC card "Suica" became usable there on 14 March 2009, when it was also incorporated into the Tokyo metropolitan area fare zone. Its Midori no Madoguchi ticket office closed on 6 March 2017. It is a ground-level station with an island platform serving two tracks, has a wooden station building, and is a station operated under contract by JR East Station Services.
Notes
Because its name once resembled that of Sanuki Station (now Ryūgasaki-shi Station) on the Jōban Line, cases were reported of passengers bound for Mother Farm mistakenly getting off at Sanuki Station on the Jōban Line.
