Location

History

Mihama-ryokuen Station opened as a through-station on the Nagoya Railroad Chita New Line in Mihama, Chita District, Aichi Prefecture, on 24 April 1987. The Chita New Line had already opened through to Utsumi Station in 1980, but this station was not originally included; it was added when Nagoya Railroad developed the surrounding area as the "Mihama Ryokuen" residential subdivision and built the Sugimoto Museum of Art. At opening it was unstaffed, and some local trains passed through without stopping, though one express train per hour called there. Since the March 2011 timetable revision, all trains, including limited expresses, have stopped there. The categories of trains stopping there have changed repeatedly over the years, including the withdrawal of stops by "Kōsoku" (High Speed) category trains in 1990.

Notes

Since its opening, it has been the only station on the Chita New Line where trains cannot pass each other, with its platform on the left side facing toward neighboring Utsumi.
