Location

History

Kyōbashi Station opened on 17 October 1895, when the Osaka Railway extended its line between Tamatsukuri and Umeda through the site, on what is now the Osaka Loop Line. Keihan Electric Railway opened its own terminus on 15 April 1910 as Gamō Station at a different site; it took the name Kyōbashi on 1 October 1949, then moved to the present elevated location on 30 November 1969, with the in-station Keihan Shopping Mall opening on 15 April 1970. Osaka Metro's subway platforms opened on 20 March 1990 as the Tsurumi-ryokuchi Line's terminus, renamed the Nagahori Tsurumi-ryokuchi Line on 11 December 1996. Today the complex is a major transfer hub for JR West, Keihan, and Osaka Metro lines in northeast Osaka.

Notes

A giant karakuri (mechanical) clock nicknamed the "mall clock" hung on the wall of the Keihan station's central-gate concourse from 1987 and was a local landmark until it was removed during a station renovation in the early 2000s.
