History

Kurikuma Station opened on 15 March 1927 as a station of the Kotohira Electric Railway. It became a station of the Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad's Kotohira Line through a company merger on 1 November 1943, and remains so today. It is an unstaffed station, station number K17, located in Kurikuma-higashi, Ayauta-chō, Marugame City, Kagawa Prefecture, now with one side platform and one track. It was formerly a train-exchange station with two platforms and two tracks, but the opposite platform was removed and the site developed as a monthly-contract parking lot. There are three station entrances in total: one at each end of the platform and one beside the waiting shelter.

Notes

At Christmastime, station-name signs playing on the name Kurikuma — rendered as "Kurikumasu" to evoke "Christmas" — are displayed at stations such as Kawaramachi, and in December 2024 one was installed at Kurikuma Station itself for the first time.
