History
Kūkōdōri Station opened on 29 July 2006 as a station of the Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad's Kotohira Line. The opening was brought forward two months ahead of the original plan, and it was the first new station on the Kotohira Line in 50 years, since Sanjō Station in 1956. Before its establishment its provisional name was "Terai Station." It is located in Teraichō, Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture, station number K07. It has one side platform and one track; the platform is on the south side of the track, and there is a level crossing within station premises. Takamatsu City developed a monthly-contract park-and-ride parking lot near the station, and together with the nearby Takamatsu Airport limousine bus stop "Kūkōdōri-Ichinomiya" (about 400 meters to the north), this is intended to improve access to Takamatsu Airport from along the Kotohira Line.
Notes
When it opened in 2006 — under the working name "Terai Station" — Kūkōdōri was the first new station on the Kotohira Line in 50 years, the previous addition being Sanjō Station in 1956.
