History
Busshozan Station opened on 21 December 1926 as a station of the Kotohira Electric Railway. When the Kotohira Electric Railway was first planned, its route was to follow the Kotohira Kaidō highway, but the alignment was changed to pass through the Busshozan district after a local campaign to attract the line. On 12 November 1929 the Shionoe Onsen Railway (later the Shionoe Line) opened, branching off from this station; it became the Kotohira Electric Railway's Shionoe Line following the 1938 merger, but was abolished on 10 May 1941 as a non-essential wartime line. The station became a station on the Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad's Kotohira Line through a company merger on 1 November 1943, and a west-side ticket gate was newly built on 1 September 2018. It is located in Busshozanchō, Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture, station number K06. It has two platforms and three tracks, combining a side platform with a bay (head-end) platform, and the adjoining Busshozan Depot and Busshozan Works handle maintenance of Kotohira Line and Nagao Line rolling stock.
Notes
Busshozan was once the junction for the Shionoe Line, a gasoline-railcar branch to the Shionoe hot springs that opened in 1929 and was scrapped in 1941 as a non-essential wartime line; the right-of-way inside the station now hosts the Busshozan workshop.
