History
Kita-Gōchi Station opened on 1 November 1960 as a Japanese National Railways intermediate stop during construction of the then Gannichi Line, in what is today the city of Iwakuni, Yamaguchi Prefecture. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 the station was transferred to JR West, which on 25 July 1987 ceded the line and its stations to the third-sector operator Nishikigawa Railway. The station now sits 13.9 kilometres from the line origin at Kawanishi on the Nishikigawa Seiryū Line.
