History

Kintetsu Kanie Station opened on 26 June 1938 as Kankyū Kanie Station, in Kanie, Ama District, Aichi Prefecture, with the completion of Kansai Express Electric Railway's line between Kuwana and Kankyū-Nagoya (now Kintetsu Nagoya). It was renamed Sankyū Kanie Station with the 1940 merger of Sangū Express Electric Railway, Kankyū Kanie Station again with the 1941 formation of Kansai Express Railway, and Kinki Nippon Kanie Station with the 1944 formation of Kintetsu, before taking its present name on 1 March 1970. The station was relocated on 10 August 1961 along with the installation of a passing siding, was upgraded to an express stop on 20 March 2002, and began accepting the PiTaPa IC card on 1 April 2007.

Notes

It has two island platforms serving four tracks and allows overtaking, with the inner tracks 2 and 3 used as the main lines and the outer tracks 1 and 4 as passing tracks, making it one of the Nagoya Line's principal stations for local-express connections.
