History

Kinoe Station opened on the Japanese National Railways Yunomae Line on 15 July 1953. It became a JR Kyushu station at the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, and was transferred to the Kuma River Railway Yunomae Line with the third-sector conversion of 1 October 1989. On 23 May 2008 it was given the subtitle "Tsukushi-ibara no Sato Kinoe Station" (Village of the Tsukushi Rose) to promote a wild habitat of the Tsukushi rose in Nishiki-machi. On 19 December 2014 its waiting shelter and platform were registered as a national Tangible Cultural Property. It is an unstaffed station with a short side platform serving one track accommodating trains of up to four cars, with no station building, only a simple waiting room.

Notes

The station's waiting shelter and platform were registered as a national Tangible Cultural Property in 2014.
