Location
History
Iyo-Ōzu Station opened on 14 February 1918 as the terminus Ōzu of the private Ehime Railway, a light railway running from Wakamiya Junction near Nagahama-machi. After the railway was nationalised on 1 October 1933, the station was renamed Iyo-Ōzu and incorporated into the Ehime Line. By 6 October 1935 the track had been re-gauged to 1,067 mm and the station became part of the Yosan Main Line. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 the station passed to JR Shikoku. It now serves as a junction between the older Iyonada coastal branch and the newer inland Uchiko branch, and carries both station numbers S18 and U14.
Notes
On 20 March 1950 an Imperial train carrying Emperor Hirohito stopped at the station for five minutes during his postwar tour, with a welcome ceremony held in front of the station.
