History

Higashi-Kaizuka Station opened on 24 September 1934 as Hanwa-Kaizuka Station on the Hanwa Electric Railway, built to serve the adjacent Dai Nippon Spinning (later Unitika) Kaizuka mill which began operating in January 1935. Renamed to its current name on 1 August 1941, the station was nationalised on 1 May 1944 with the Hanwa Line. It passed to JR West at the 1987 privatisation. ICOCA service began on 1 November 2003, the Midori-no-Madoguchi closed on 14 June 2016, station numbering JR-R41 was introduced in March 2018, and a new west exit building opened on 4 December 2023.

Notes

The station was built primarily as a freight outlet for the Dai Nippon Spinning Kaizuka mill, which operated next to it from 1935 until 1997.
