History

Hida-Furukawa Station (CG28) is a JR Central station on the Takayama Main Line in Kanamori-machi, Furukawa, Hida City, Gifu Prefecture, and is the representative station of Hida City. It opened on 25 October 1934 when the Railway Ministry's Takayama Main Line was extended from Hida-Osaka to Sakakami, and it passed to JR Central at the 1987 privatisation. It is a ground-level station with one side platform serving a single track on the station-building side and one island platform serving two tracks — two platforms and three tracks in all — and it retains its wooden station building. TOICA became usable for travel in the Mino-Ōta direction on 1 October 2025, and a support-equipped reserved-seat ticket machine was installed on 7 February 2026.

Notes

The station gained wide recognition through the 2016 Makoto Shinkai anime film Your Name. (Kimi no Na wa.), in which the station, its interior and the taxi rank outside it are depicted. Numbers of "pilgrimage" fan tourists rose after the film's release.
