History

Sugisaki Station is a station of Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central) on the Takayama Main Line, located in Sugisaki, Furukawa-chō, Hida, Gifu Prefecture. It was newly established as a provisional stop between Hida-Furukawa and Hida-Hosoe stations on 25 December 1952, with its reading originally "Sugizaki." It was upgraded to a full station on 15 October 1955, and its reading was changed to "Sugisaki." The station building was completed the following year, 1956. It became a JR Central station with the 1987 division and privatization of the national railway on 1 April. It is an unstaffed station with a single platform serving one track and a wooden station building, one of the few stations on the Takayama Main Line to retain its single-platform, single-track layout unchanged since opening.

Notes

Besides this station, the only stations on the Takayama Main Line that have retained their single-platform, single-track layout unchanged since opening are Hida-Miyata Station and, within JR West's territory, Higashi-Yatsuo and Fuchū-Usaka stations.
