History

Bizen-Fukukawa Station opened on 1 March 1955 as a Japanese National Railways station on the newly built Akō Line. Despite being named after Bizen Province, historically part of what is now Okayama Prefecture, the village around the station was transferred to Hyōgo Prefecture in 1963, and the station now lies within the city of Akō, Hyōgo Prefecture. With the 1987 privatisation of JNR the station came under JR West. The station is 16.4 kilometres from the line's terminus at Aioi and 5.9 kilometres from Banshū-Akō. It has a single side platform serving one track at ground level, and in fiscal 2019 it averaged about 30 passengers daily.

Notes

The station's name retains the old Bizen Province prefix even though the surrounding village was administratively transferred from Okayama to Hyōgo Prefecture in 1963, eight years after the station opened.
