History
Zenshōji Station opened on 9 May 1931 on the Takayama Main Line in the city of Gero, Gifu Prefecture, when the line was extended from Gero to Hida-Hagiwara. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 the station passed to JR Central. The unstaffed stop lies 93.5 kilometres from the line's official starting point at Gifu. It has one ground-level side platform and two tracks: because the platform stands only on the passing track while the main track serves as a through line, limited-express trains run past on the far side and ordinary trains wait at the platform, but two ordinary trains never cross here.
Notes
The station takes its name from the nearby Zenshō-ji, the head temple of the Zen temples of its district and one of the Tenka Jissatsu, the "ten temples of the realm".
