History

Yunomoto Station was opened on 15 December 1913 by Japanese Government Railways. It lies 369.6 kilometres from the starting point of the Kagoshima Main Line, in the city of Hioki, Kagoshima Prefecture, near Yunomoto Onsen. The station has two side platforms connected to the station building by a footbridge, and it remains staffed. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, JR Kyushu took over the station. In fiscal 2020 it was used by an average of 265 boarding passengers per day, ranking 291st among the busiest stations on the JR Kyushu network.
