History
Yabu Station opened on 1 July 1908 as a station of the Imperial Railway Agency, when the line was extended between Wadayama and Yōka stations. It was assigned to the Bantan Line under the line-naming system established on 12 October 1909, and to the San'in Main Line under the revision of 1 March 1912. Freight handling ended in 1970, after which the station was staffed only during daytime hours, and it became a station operated under a simplified staffing contract in 1984. It passed to JR West at the privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, and is currently operated as a simplified-contract station under the Kinki Regional Headquarters' Fukuchiyama Administration Department. It is located at Aza Ishigori, Horihata, Yabu, Hyōgo Prefecture, and is a ground-level station with an island platform serving two tracks that allows trains to pass one another, though the switches on either side of the station are symmetrical (Y-shaped) turnouts rather than a single-track-through arrangement.
Notes
Although it bears the name "Yabu," the representative station of Yabu City is the neighboring Yōka Station, and no limited express trains stop at this station.
