History

Uzen-Narita Station opened on 11 December 1922 with the extension of the Nagai Line between Nagai and Ayugai. Freight handling ended on 10 June 1961, and the station became a contracted-service station on 1 April 1964; on 19 March 1984 it moved to simplified contracted service, leaving it without regular staff. It passed to JR East in the National Railways' privatization and division on 1 April 1987, and became a station on the Yamagata Railway Flower Nagai Line when the Nagai Line was converted to third-sector operation on 25 October 1988. On 1 April 1997 the simplified contract was also ended, making it a fully unstaffed station.

Notes

The wooden station building, dating from the Japanese National Railways-era Nagai Line, was registered as a national Tangible Cultural Property on 4 August 2015, together with Nishi-Ōtsuka Station.
