History
Tsuboi Station is a two-platform JR West halt on the Kishin Line in Tsuyama, Okayama Prefecture, 98.3 km from the line's southern terminus at Himeji. It opened on 21 August 1923 with the Japanese Government Railways' Sakubi Line between Tsuyama and Mimasaka-Oiwake. Successive reorganisations placed it on the Sakubi East Line in 1929, the through Sakubi Line in 1930, and the Kishin Line in 10 October 1936. Freight and parcel handling were abolished on 12 March 1973, the station was destaffed on 1 November 1986, and it passed to JR West at the 1987 JNR breakup. The original station building has since been removed; only small waiting shelters remain on each platform.
Notes
Tsuboi keeps a siding for maintenance-of-way vehicles, although its station building has been removed and only small waiting shelters remain on the two platforms.
