History

Toshima Station opened on 22 January 1924 as a station of the Atsumi Electric Railway, in what is now Toshima-chō, Tahara, Aichi Prefecture. On 8 March 1924 the line was extended on to Kambe and Toshima became an intermediate stop. The operator was absorbed into Nagoya Railway (Meitetsu) on 1 September 1940, and the station was transferred to the Toyohashi Railroad on 1 October 1954. Toshima was destaffed in October 1965 and remains an unstaffed local stop (number 14) on the Atsumi Line in Tahara, Aichi.

Notes

Toshima is largely a commuter and student-traffic stop; the Toyotetsu Bus Irago Main Line has a stop in front of the station on National Route 259 (the Tahara Highway), and the station sits in the Toshima district of Tahara near the Tōkai Tsukemono pickle plant and the Kamiya Tamago poultry farm.
