Location

History

Tōji Station opened on 15 November 1928, when the Nara Electric Railway's line between Kyoto and Momoyama-Goryōmae opened. In March 1939 it was relocated about 0.11 km toward Yamato-Saidaiji, and elevated at the same time. A company merger on 1 October 1963 made it a station on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line, and the IC card "PiTaPa" became usable there in 2007. It has been unstaffed all day since 10 January 2024. It is an elevated station with two opposed platforms serving two tracks, with a platform length accommodating six cars; its station number is B02. All trains except limited expresses now stop there.

Notes

The bus stop on National Route 1 in front of the station is called "Kujō Kintetsu-mae," not "Kintetsu Tōji Eki-mae," carrying over the name of a Kyoto City Tram stop that operated until 1978 (and, going back further, "Kujō Naraden-mae" until 1963).
