Location
History
Takase Station opened on 20 December 1913 as Kami-Takase Station in Takase-chō, Mitoyo, Kagawa Prefecture. The station building was rebuilt in June 1959, and on 1 October of the same year it was renamed to its present name, Takase Station. Parcel delivery handling ended in 1969, freight handling in 1970, and parcel handling altogether in 1985. It passed to Shikoku Railway Company (JR Shikoku) at the 1 April 1987 division and privatization of Japanese National Railways and was assigned station number Y16. It became unstaffed all day on 16 March 2024. Construction of a new single-story wooden station building began on 24 March 2025, with a public restroom, waiting room, and bicycle parking successively brought into service within the year. It is a station on the Yosan Line where limited expresses stop only in the early morning and at night.
Notes
After Takase tea, produced in Kagawa Prefecture's largest tea-growing area, the station stamp and 'Eki Tag' design take 'the Station of Takase Tea' as their motif. Because a station of the same name also exists on JR East's Senzan Line in Yamagata Prefecture, tickets from vending machines and ticket windows are marked '(San) Takase' to distinguish it.
