History
Mino Station was newly established as Takase-Taibō Station on 27 January 1952 between Takuma and Kami-Takase (present-day Takase) stations on the Japanese National Railways Yosan Line. It was an unstaffed, diesel-railcar-only station from opening, briefly staffed in 1963 before becoming unstaffed again in 1971. It passed to JR Shikoku at the 1 April 1987 division and privatization of Japanese National Railways, and on 3 December 1994 was renamed, in hiragana, 'Mino Station,' at the request of the former town of Mino and to avoid confusion with another town also named Mino that then existed in Tokushima Prefecture. It is a ground-level station with a single side platform serving one track, located in Shimo-Takase, Mino-chō, Mitoyo, Kagawa Prefecture.
Notes
The station's original name, Takase-Taibō, derived from the nearby Honmon-ji temple, which was known locally as 'Taibō-san'; when it was renamed to match the town's name in 1994, hiragana spelling was chosen to avoid confusion with the town of Mino in Tokushima Prefecture.
