History
Takamatsu-Chikkō Station is the terminus of the Kotoden Kotohira Line and the practical terminus of the Kotoden Nagao Line, in central Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture. It is operated by the private Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad and designated as stations K00 and N00. The Kawaramachi–Chikkō section was fully opened at the end of 1948, after the war, as a substitute route for the city tram line abandoned because of air-raid damage to Takamatsu; the site had previously formed part of Takamatsu Castle's moat, a stretch of which still runs alongside Platform 1. The station opened on 26 December 1948 as Chikkō Station and was treated as temporary until completion of the present facility; it was renamed Takamatsu-Chikkō Station on 1 January 1954. It was relocated 210 m north on 10 September 1955, and the station building was reconstructed in 2000.
Notes
Platform 1 sits directly beside a surviving stretch of Takamatsu Castle's moat — a vestige of the castle precinct that occupied the site before the line was built.
