History

Shionomiya Station opened on 15 August 1911 in present-day Kawachinagano, Osaka Prefecture, on what is now the Kintetsu Nagano Line. It carries station number O22 and sits 10.5 km from the line's terminus and 28.8 km from Ōsaka-Abenobashi. Originally laid out with two side platforms and two tracks, the northbound track toward Ōsaka-Abenobashi was removed in June 1966; the disused second platform is still visible. The current station serves a single ground-level side platform handling one bidirectional track.
