History
Shiyakusho-mae opened on 23 November 1912 as Makomobashi, when Hiroden's Ujina Line began service between Kamiyachō and Miyukibashi; the name came from the Makomo Bridge that once crossed a waterway at the site. Around 1919 it was renamed Kōkaidō-mae after the nearby Hiroshima Public Hall. The stop closed on 10 June 1944 during the war and reopened on 1 November 1946 under its present name, Shiyakusho-mae ("in front of the City Office"), after Hiroshima City Hall next door. Today it is a street-level tram stop on the Ujina Line whose low platforms flank the tracks in a staggered arrangement set by a 2009 relocation, serving Hiroden's routes toward Kamiyachō, Hacchōbori, Hiroshima Station, Yokogawa Station and Hiroshima Port.
Notes
The glass-walled, advertisement-bearing shelter added to the platforms in 2009 was the first fixture of its kind at any tram stop in Japan.
