History

Shiyakusho-mae Station is a tram stop on the Toyohashi Railroad's Azumada Main Line in Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture, numbered stop 5 on the line. It opened around 1925 under the name Eimon-mae Station, literally "in front of the barracks gate," and was later abolished at an unrecorded date. Around 1950, amid postwar reconstruction, it reopened as Kokaido-mae stop, literally "in front of the public hall," before taking its current name, Shiyakusho-mae, literally "in front of the city hall," around 1951. It has two opposing platforms forming roofed safety zones, on track shared with National Route 1, between the Fudagi and Toyohashi Koen-mae stops.

Notes

The stop has had three different names in the roughly quarter-century since it opened, and for an unrecorded stretch in between it did not exist at all: opened in 1925, it was later abolished, then reestablished under a new name around 1950 and renamed again to its present one around 1951.
