Location
History
Shiroi Station opened on 9 March 1979 as part of the Hokusō Kaihatsu Tetsudō (Hokusō Development Railway) Hokusō Line in Shiroi, Chiba Prefecture, and stands at the centre of the city, in an area built up as part of Chiba New Town. The line was renamed the Hokusō-Kōdan Line on 1 April 1988, and on 1 July 2004 the operator and the line took their present names, Hokusō Railway and Hokusō Line. The station was assigned the number HS10 when station numbering was introduced across the Hokusō Line on 17 July 2010. From 25 March 2022 the stop has carried the secondary name "Tokimeki Nashi no Sato" ("the pear village"). Built with National Route 464 running along either side, the station building sits at the middle of a bridge spanning the cutting in which the line runs.
Notes
The station is read "Shiroi" rather than the more common "Shirai" — a reading shared with the surrounding Shiroi City and with neighbouring Nishi-Shiroi Station. Because the kanji for Shiroi (白井) and Usui (臼井) are easily confused, Keisei Electric Railway writes the name of Keisei Usui Station on its Keisei Main Line in kana rather than kanji, to prevent passengers from boarding the wrong train.
