History

Shingū-Chūō Station opened on 13 March 2010 as an infill stop on JR Kyushu's Kagoshima Main Line, becoming the only JR station within Shingū Town and serving rapidly suburbanising residential developments on both sides of the line. It is operated directly by JR Kyushu and has a Midori no Madoguchi reservation counter and automatic ticket gates. On 1 April 2023 a rooftop solar installation atop the platform shelters began generating power. The layout is two opposing side platforms with an elevated station building; there are forecourts at both the eastern and western exits, each with an elevator and an up-direction escalator, and a bus stop at the east exit.

Notes

The station name boards carry the crest of Shingū Town as their symbol. The neighbouring station now called Fukkōdai-mae used that same crest while it was named Chikuzen-Shingū, up to its renaming in 2008, two years before Shingū-Chūō opened.
