Location

History

Fukkōdai-mae Station traces its origin to Shingū Signal Box, opened by Japanese Government Railways on 1 June 1915. It was promoted to a passenger station and renamed Chikuzen-Shingū Station on 1 October 1920, with its location shifted roughly 300 metres toward Hakata. Freight handling ended on 1 October 1961. The station building was rebuilt in March 1987, and with the privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 control passed to JR Kyushu; an entirely new station building opened on 28 May 2003. The station was renamed Fukkōdai-mae on 15 March 2008 to reference the adjacent Fukuoka Institute of Technology. From the 3 March 2001 timetable change, all rapid-service trains now stop here.

Notes

One of the station's two exits, Fukkōdai-guchi, runs through Fukuoka Institute of Technology grounds and is restricted to people affiliated with the university — the rest of the public must use the north exit.
