History
Shimmachiguchi Station is a station on the Man'yō Line in Chūō-machi, Imizu, Toyama Prefecture. It opened on 14 October 1955 as a station on the Toyama Chihō Railway's Imizu Line. On 5 April 1966 it was transferred to Kaetsunō Railway's Shinminato Port Line when the Imizu Line was split, and it passed to the Man'yō Line through a business transfer on 1 April 2002. It has two facing platforms serving one track, but the structure now consists of the platforms only, with no shelter installed. It formerly had a station building staffed by attendants. The surrounding area is Shinminato's entertainment district with many restaurants and bars, and the station also serves facilities such as the Imizu City Shinminato Central Culture Hall (Kōshūha Culture Hall).
