History
Naka-Shinminato Station is a station on the Man'yō Line in Himeno, Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture. Located near the boundary between Takaoka and Imizu, it is one of the stations close to the central urban area of Imizu's Shinminato district (formerly Shinminato City), and until 2021 was treated as Imizu's representative station in the JTB timetable. It was established on 9 November 1932 with the opening of the Etchū Railway's Higashi-Shinminato–Shōgawaguchi section, and became a station on Toyama Chihō Railway's Imizu Line through the merger on 1 January 1943. The station building was rebuilt on 10 April 1959, the station was transferred to Kaetsunō Railway on 5 April 1966, and it became unstaffed on 15 November 1971 when the Shinminato Port Line converted to one-man operation. On 1 April 2002 it became a Man'yō Line station through a business transfer.
Notes
The station was originally a freight-handling station with two island platforms serving four tracks, and its former station building stood on the Shinminato City side while the platforms were on the Takaoka side, straddling the administrative boundary.
