History

Shimin Byōin-mae Station opened on 21 October 1941 as a station on the Nagoya Railroad's Kagashima Line. It was newly added to the Kagashima Line, which had opened in 1924, to coincide with the relocation and reconstruction of Gifu Municipal Hospital; the Senjudō–Moriya section was originally on a dedicated right-of-way, but was converted to street-running track when the road was widened in 1950. Affected by the rise of motorization, the station was abolished along with the closure of the Kagashima Line on 4 October 1964. Located in Kashima-chō, Gifu, Gifu Prefecture, it is said to have had only a single side platform serving one track on the street-running section, with no station building.

Notes

The station was one of the few later additions on the Kagashima Line, newly built in 1941 to serve local residents visiting the hospital, and records indicate it saw heavy use.
