History

Shikino-Chūgakkō-mae Station is a Manyosen Takaoka Kidō Line tram stop straddling Awara-machi and Hirokōji in Takaoka, Toyama. It opened on 10 April 1948 as an intermediate stop when Toyama Chihō Railway opened its line from Jitetsu-Takaoka (now Takaoka Station) to Fushikikō, passed to Kaetsunō Railway on 1 April 1959, and passed to Manyosen on 1 April 2002. From 1 November 2005 it carried the byname Takaoka City Hall-mae. From 3 September 2017 (the birthday of Doraemon) the down-line platform was rebuilt as the "Doraemon Tram Stop" with character decorations marking the way to the Fujiko F. Fujio Gallery inside the Takaoka Art Museum; the up platform was given the same treatment on 13 March 2018.

Notes

Shikino-Chūgakkō-mae's "Doraemon Tram Stop" décor — including a Anywhere Door installation and wraparound character art — opened on Doraemon's birthday, 3 September 2017, marking it as the nearest tram stop to the Fujiko F. Fujio Gallery in the Takaoka Art Museum.
