Location
History
Sakaisujihommachi Station opened on 6 December 1969, when the Sakaisuji Line's section between Tenjinbashisuji-6-chōme and Dōbutsuenmae and the Chūō Line's section between Hommachi and Tanimachi-4-chōme opened simultaneously. Because Hommachi Station had already opened, the name "Sakaisuji" was prefixed to distinguish this station from the neighbouring one. It is an underground station with an island platform serving two tracks for the Chūō Line and two opposed platforms serving two tracks for the Sakaisuji Line, and serves as a transfer station between the two lines. It became a station of Osaka Metro Co., Ltd. (Ōsaka-shi Kōsoku Denki Kidō) with the privatisation of the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau in April 2018. Movable platform barriers began operating on the Sakaisuji Line platforms in 2020 and on the Chūō Line platforms in April 2024. A station renewal with the design concept of "Semba culture" was completed on 31 March 2025.
Notes
The station belongs to neither Hankyu Railway nor Kintetsu, and it is the only station where passengers can transfer directly between Hankyu and Kintetsu trains.
