History

Nishinokuchi Station opened on 29 March 1913 with the Aichi Electric Railway's extension from Ōnomachi to Tokoname, and the line passed to the Meitetsu group on 1 August 1935. The stop was suspended during wartime in 1944 and reopened on 15 September 1946 as an unstaffed station. On 15 December 2004 the station was relocated and rebuilt as a bridge-type station, its two six-car side platforms replaced by two eight-car island platforms serving four tracks in preparation for the new Airport Line, and manaca smart-card service began in February 2011. The station also gained passing loops and a stabling siding, the first passing tracks on the stretch between Ōtagawa and Tokoname.

Notes

The 5:11 local for Chūbu Centrair — one of two early-morning services that start from Nishinokuchi — is the earliest-departing train anywhere on the Meitetsu network.
