History

Nishi-Ōgata Station opened on 1 October 1970 as an unstaffed station, with the opening of JNR's Nakamura Line extension from Tosa-Saga Station to Nakamura Station. It was inherited by JR Shikoku at the JNR privatization of 1 April 1987, and became a Tosa Kuroshio Railway station when the Nakamura Line was converted to the third-sector Tosa Kuroshio Railway on 1 April 1988. It is located at Uedanokuchi, Kuroshio-chō, Hata District, Kōchi Prefecture; it is a ground-level station with one side platform and one track, with no station building but a waiting room on the platform. Its station number is TK38.
