History
Nishi-Nyūzen Station was established as "Nishi-Nyūzen Signal Station" between Ikuji and Nyūzen on the JNR Hokuriku Main Line on 31 March 1959. It was upgraded to a full station on 1 July 1960, opening as Nishi-Nyūzen Station handling passengers and hand baggage/parcels. The section between this station and Ikuji was double-tracked on 23 April 1965, and the section between this station and Nyūzen was double-tracked on 25 November 1966; AC electrification between Toyama Marshalling Yard and Tomari Station was completed on 25 August 1965. On 10 October 1972 it became a simplified-contract station entrusted to Nyūzen Town, and it passed to JR West at the division and privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987. With the 14 March 2015 extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Kanazawa it became a station of Ainokaze Toyama Railway, and ICOCA use began there on the 26th of the same month.
Notes
With the introduction of a new passenger information system in March 2017, an arrangement of "Tadaima," the solo re-debut song by singer Kozue Nishijima (formerly of Nanamujika) — a native of Nyūzen Town — has been used as the train-arrival melody.
